Kinnarps joins the Science Based Targets initiative and UN Global Compact

Kinnarps has joined the UN Global Compact and committed to setting climate targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This move supports the company’s goal to halve its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050.

Greater transparency in sustainability efforts

By signing up to the UN Global Compact, Kinnarps commits to following ten principles for responsible business covering human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. The company will also report transparently on its progress each year.

“We’re now taking even clearer responsibility for sustainability and our climate impact, in line with science and globally recognised principles. These values have long guided our work, but by making them official, we can offer our stakeholders even greater transparency,” says Johanna Ljunggren, Sustainability Manager at Kinnarps.

Reassurance for customers

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) provides a framework for setting climate targets aligned with what science shows is needed to limit global warming to 1.5°C. The targets that Kinnarps has committed to setting under SBTi will be assessed and validated within 24 months.

“By committing to SBTi, we’re strengthening our ability to support our customers in reaching their own climate goals. SBTi gives our customers confidence that our targets are backed by science and that we’re serious about driving change,” says Dan Molander, Sales Director at Kinnarps.
